The rewards of some of the ancient wonders are MASSIVELY underwhelming and need to be more worth it. The events that happen around the game could use some work as they have little variety and some dont match in my opinion (like the nature affinity has to deal with fire creatures instead of undead). Its especially jaring to slap opposing affinity magic with no issue whatsoever. WHile yes it does allow you to speed through the affinity tree and get the magic victory conditions but it leaves you so 'focused' with no big benefit that your fighting capability tends to be worse than someone who spread out and slapped different elemental damage type on his units. My biggest gripe though is currently you are very much punished for going mono affinity. The tomes are overall pretty good although some def need a buff (looking at you wind tome) no real tome i would think is in desperate rapid need of a rework but can imagine it needs some fine tuning somewhere.

For the most part when i lose i feel its due to me making bad decisions and such rather than the game screwing me over.

So overall the game is rather fun, much more forgiving and a lot less meat grinder like AOW3 was as all units are decently tough allowing more strategy especially with frontline as they just constantly died in AOW3. So fair warning im no master of the game or anything im a very casual player (sucked at AOW3) but ive played several games finished the campaign (currently) and have a few ascended rulers under my belt so here are my thoughts on the game as it is
